UX/UI Design

This is an ongoing program and I have completed 80% of it. I picked it up to improve my UX skills and to tap into formal learning for the work I do. I’ve learned the bulk of what i do through short tutorials and mentors in the field.

"Online Self Study"

Animation

I challenged myself to learn animation through Adobe Animate, After Effects, Character and Premier Pro. I’m also taking time to play around with Blender to as part of an ongoing effort to learn more 3D tools/software. Progress on this will be shared on my personal blog under Odd notes.

Employment
Baker Tilly Central Africa

Graphic Designer

  • As a mid-level graphic designer, I provide remote design support to Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia, and Malawi regional offices, ensuring all design requirements are met and aligned with company goals. I collaborate with cross-functional teams, including partners, marketing, sales, IT, and quality assurance, to ensure that all creative deliverables align with brand standards and marketing objectives of the Baker Tilly International brand.
  • In this fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, I manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines. I conceptualize and design visually impactful, multi-page booklets for all of Baker Tilly Central Africa  offices, including tax reports, new service offerings, and other long-form information published digitally, while adhering to Baker Tilly International brand guidelines.
  • I develop and execute creative concepts and designs for a variety of print and digital marketing materials, including brochures, flyers, presentations, social media graphics, and website assets. Utilizing Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other design tools (Canva, PPT, and Figma), I create high-quality, visually compelling designs that effectively communicate key messages to target audiences.
  • To ensure continuous improvement of design processes and outputs, I stay up-to-date with design trends and best practices, providing recommendations. I also conduct training sessions for business development, marketing, and sales teams on using brand guidelines across all communication forms.
  • Additionally, I advise on SEO practices for the company to optimize the sales funnel and revive the monthly company newsletter, resulting in increased website traffic and improved conversion rates. Lastly, I actively participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions, contributing ideas and feedback to improve the overall creative quality and meet sales targets.
Zimbabwe Badge & Medal

Creative Designer

  • From February 2021 to April 2022, I worked as a creative designer at ZBM, the foremost badge and medal manufacturer in Zimbabwe with over 45 years of experience.
  • As part of my role, I designed various marketing materials for the company, and prepared artworks for doming, laser manufacturing, vinyl & UV printing, CNC machining, and tool making. I also redrew artworks for CNC machining and tool making, and was involved in product development and material research for laser manufacturing.
  • I took the initiative to introduce an online invoicing system that improved job management and reduced losses on jobs that were billed on estimates instead of labor cost, job time, and material costs.
  • As a key member of the team, I reported directly to the company directors and occasionally participated in conflict resolution sessions, competitor analysis reporting, and staff training.
  • Other responsibilities in this role included creating video content for social media, laser troubleshooting, and routine maintenance.
Tizzie Studios

Studio manager

  • From May 2020 to January 2021, I shifted my focus from design work to artist management at a multimedia studio. My role involved assisting in studio production work and leading creative video and photography shoots.
  • I created marketing material for social media, managed artists, negotiated service exchange contracts on behalf of the company, and created long-term partnerships with clients and relevant equipment suppliers.
  • I helped grow the company’s YouTube channel from 300 subscribers in 2019 to 10,000 in 2021 and also helped produce content that reached at least 1.3 million views during my time as Studio manager.
  • I advised on marketing and best practices for recording and publishing a mini TV series called Zoned-In and another Car Show for Zimbabwe, both programs were aired on ZBC from October 2020 to February 2021.
  • Working closely with the company directors, I helped set up systems to ensure the studio continued to produce quality work in the years to come. I continue to consult with the directors on the creative work and assist in ongoing projects such as creating an all-kids-centered TV station for Zimbabwean orphans, 2 dance groups, and additional artist and team development projects.
