How it works

This tool looks for the photos and scanned images embedded inside your PDF and re-compresses them at a lower quality and resolution, then rebuilds the file — entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing is uploaded to a server.

It works best on scanned documents and photo-heavy PDFs, where large embedded images are usually the reason the file is big. PDFs that are mostly text and vector graphics are typically already small and won't shrink much further.
